I welcome you to the website of Beth Israel Congregation at Kingston.
We are located in the City of Kingston, the “Limestone City” and Canada’s first capital.
Established in 1910 as an Orthodox congregation, Beth Israel, in 2012, adopted the ritual of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism in its egalitarian form. Thus, every member of our “Kahilla”, or family, can participate fully and equally in all religious practices.
Though it is true that our mission at Beth Israel is to meet the religious, cultural, educational and social needs of our diverse membership, more than that, and in terms that speak to the Jewish heart, we want our members and guests to feel that they are “coming home” when they enter our Shul and that they sense a warmth and the familiarity of belonging, so much an essential part of Jewish identity.
We offer a range of activities and services at Beth Israel, including Saturday morning Shabbat services, Talmud Torah from kindergarten through grade seven (The Bader Elkin Talmud Torah), lecture and adult education programs and, of course, many social activities and fantastic Jewish food.
Should you have any questions or need further information not found on this website, please do not hesitate to contact me through the synagogue.
I look forward to meeting you, at least as our guest and in the hope of welcoming you into the Beth Israel family.
President, Beth Israel Congregation
