Bader Elkin Talmud Torah
Talmud Torah, Hebrew High & Youth Programming
Beth Israel’s Bader Elkin Talmud Torah welcomes children of all ages, from Nursery through High School. Our nurturing, joyful and stimulating educational environment teaches children about Jewish life, Hebrew language, Torah, songs, prayer and more. Our goal is to instill pride for Judaism, give children an opportunity to create lasting friendships with other Jewish children, and build confidence to comfortably lead or participate in services, celebrate the milestone of a Bat or Bar Mitzvah, and be leaders within our community and beyond.
All of our teachers are young, accomplished, and conscientious, most are graduates of parochial Hebrew Day school, and are all wonderful role models. They come to us from Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, or even out West, with enthusiasm and dedication while attending Queen’s University.
Starting in Grade 1,Bader Elkin Talmud Torah meets two times per week, except during Jewish and school holidays. Kindergarten meets once per week. The Nursery class meets for one hour with parents and their children. Our Hebrew High, grades 8 through 12, meets approximately once per month on varied and stimulating topics.
As with every school experience, parental involvement is essential to our children’s successes. This is even more crucial in our small school, as we depend on each other to help with events such as Sukkot dinners, Simchat Torah socials, Purim parties, Passover Seders, and the like, as well as provide weekly healthy snack. When we work together, we show our children how important Jewish learning and values are to us, while building community.
Our Talmud Torah Committee oversees all matters pertaining to our Beth Israel children, including Talmud Torah, Hebrew High, and Youth programming. Our active Parent Committee is happy to share our experiences, answer questions, or take suggestions!
